40 Things About Me On My 40th Birthday

Today I turned 40 years old. I can tell you that I enjoyed each and every year of my life. We are currently dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic which cancelled all my birthday plans but I still plan to make lemonade out the lemons I have. Nowadays we all get so caught up in many unnecessary things and forget that “life is about experiences not things”. I hope once this COVID-19 is over you all get out and some new experiences.

Over these 40 years I experienced a lot and been to several places. Creating this list made me reminisce on all the fun times I had & wonder what experiences I will have in my next 40 years. I hope that this list make you laugh, remember being a part of my 40 list & learn a little more about who I am.

1.     I was born in Paterson, New Jersey in 1980

2.     My favorite color is blue

3.     I graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Voorhees College

4.     Pledged Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. & my line name is Slimgoodie #5

5.     I am 6’7” tall

6.     I also played 4 years of basketball at Voorhees College

7.     I lived in several states throughout my life. I lived in Florida, South Carolina, Virginia & Arkansas

8.     I lived in 3 state capitals (Columbia, SC, Richmond, VA & Little Rock, AR)

9.     I have 3 sisters & 2 brothers

10.  My childhood dream was to become a modern-day Bob Vila. I wanted to be a construction worker

11.  As a kid I used to love to watch wrestling

12.  I never had the typical ‘summer job’ in high school. During my summers I would be outside hanging vinyl siding to homes.

13.  I started shaving my head bald in 8th grade because I hated the long waits at the barber shop.

14.  I was the BIGGEST 2pac fan in high school. A few of my high school teammates used to call me 3pac because if that haha

15.  As a kid I found out I was allergic to bees when I got stung by one on my forehead. My forehead was HUGE & I had to spend 3 nights in the hospital.

16.  As a kid I received stitches 3 times. I was a rough one haha

17.  My favorite TV show is Martin. I can watch these episodes like I never seen them before and laugh all day.

18.  A few of my favorite movies are Life, The Five Heartbeats & the Friday trilogy.

19.  I met my wife Jackie at our job gym in 2005. Yea she saw the guns I had haha.

20.  Jackie and I got married in 2009 in Columbia.

21.  My proudest moment is the birth of my daughter Lauren in 2016.

22.  I only feel like I dance like Chris Brown when me and Lauren have our dance offs at home haha

23.  I am an introvert but love to be around extroverts lol helps bring me out of my shell

24.  I visited 6 countries (The Bahamas, Dominican Republic, Cayman Islands, Honduras, Belize and Mexico). Where will I go to next?

25.  I love craft beer specifically an IPA. I love the punch and flavor it provides.

26.  My favorite soft drink is an ice-cold Coca-Cola.

27.  I love BBQ and once attended a BBQ competition cook class. (My ribs are the bomb)

28.  I also love to eat Chinese food. General Tso’s chicken is my favorite if I can find a restaurant that can actually make it correctly.

29.  I love cooking and creating flavorful dishes for my family.

30.  I love comedy movies and a good stand up.

31.  I normally change into some basketball shorts within 5 minutes of getting home.

32.  In middle school I once ran track (800 meter) & in high school I had to run Cross Country which I hated haha.

33.  I played football one year in high school

34.  I prefer to watch football over basketball. I am a longtime Philadelphia Eagles & Florida State Seminoles fan.

35.  I went on a horse ride twice in my lifetime which was pretty cool.

36.  My uncle once taught me how to play the piano. Nope I can’t play one note anymore lol

37.  When I was in high school, I used to read books all the time. Now I hate reading 

38.  I once went zip lining in the Dominican Republic.

39.  I went White Water Rafting in a controlled environment. I don’t see me doing that again ha

40.  I own an 1894 Morgan Silver $1 coin which is valued around $600.
